RAYNET Talk Through Unit (TTU)

RAYNET TTU’s are capable of being deployed in any location where an extended range is required. This relies on a signal arriving at the TTU pictured centre receiving a signal on VHF or UHF and repeating on the opposing VHF/UHF band.

RAYNET deploy these units to high ground to gain advantage of distance. Hills and mountains are favoured for best distance. Tall buildings can also benefit from these temporary installed devices.

These can be mains or battery powered, in most cases we look for battery power (sometimes solar backed up) for resilience in power outages or infrastructure failure. For event and general comms assistance where possible mains power is preferred.

These TTU setups are licenced by Ofcom for use on a temporary basis only and not designed for long term use.

Some TTU’s are installed in fixed locations but are switched off until required for RAYNET use to comply with Ofcom requirements.

Most RAYNET Groups are in possession of several of these units in many guises, and the majority are made up by members own equipment, provided and funded by the member themselves.
