RAYNET has fixed infrastructure in Cardiff, Barry and Cowbridge.
As a forward thinking group Cardiff and District RAYNET invested in D-star Digital technologies as an early adopter back in 2008, this investment allowed our group to build a local network capable of voice and data communications.
Our Cowbridge facility is on resilient power at St Hilary (with the kind support of South Wales Police) it has been tested across a wide area which can operate between RAYNET operators at Swansea Bunker, Bridgend County Council HQ, Vale of Glamorgan Council Civil Protection Control Room and Cardiff County Council HQ.
This facility is also active into Police HQ in Bridgend enabling comms between all mentioned above.
Other Authorities within the SWLRF are yet to be Tested.
When internet is available, other devices can interlink within the fixed infrastructure. Due to our reliance on resilience services, we use this element of the network for routine operations only. We accept that IT facilities can be erratic during testing times so do not include this option in our resilient plan.
